Writing, it's not what I do it's who I am...
The title
of this post is what I've told people for years with
regard to my writing. I'm not just some newbie
blogger who's jumped onto the net. I've been writing
since I was nine years old. I'm both a creative and a
technical writer; published poet and I write
technically in post production in the entertainment
industry, I write documents that instruct how to dub
or subtitle your film, tv show, trailer, tv spot,
etc. The point is I wrote long before the wonderful
internet was available to the global masses. I enjoy
writing creatively just as much as technically. I'm
what they call a balanced brain individual not left
brain or right brain but balanced brain. Anyway, this
blog has been a blast for me so far and I hope it's a
fun and interesting read to the people who are
visiting it.
Which brings me to the point of this post; I just have to write and post an advance review of Apple's iWork '08 Pages application. I started using is last Saturday when my copy arrived, thank you FedEx Home delivery. I had been using Pages from iWork '06 but I'm already seeing incredible improvements and features about this upgrade that compel me to write a mini-review now to say, Thumbs Up Apple iWork '08 Pages Rocks! I was typing on a tv spot script and the application started intuitively finishing my phrases for me which saved me time, I've seen a word processing application function in that manner before. I also really like how in Pages '08 you have two distinct areas to chose from; Word Processing area or the Layout area. For example, if you need to create a flyer you'd select a template in the 'Layout' area of Pages '08. Makes for a very powerful application more so than just a word processing program. So, if you're on Mac or thinking of buying one here's another GREAT reason to do so. Also, you can't beat the price of the iWork '08 suite at $79.00 (for 1 Mac) or $99.00 for a Family Pack (for 5 Macs). I'm focusing on Pages '08 right now because that's the application I'm actually using to prepare work product for one of my film studio clients. I'm having such a productive and enjoyable experience I'm taking time out to write and post this mini review. It's no secret I love my Macs and I'm a diehard Apple fan this is another reason which reinforces my loyalty in Apple and their products. iWork '08 includes these three applications (just like MS Office but SO much better in my opinion) PAGES (like but better than MS Word), KEYNOTE (like but better than MS PowerPoint) and NUMBERS (again, like but better than MS Excel) Numbers is Apple's new spreadsheet application which rounds out the iWork '08 suite of software applications. Again, Kudos to Apple for Pages '08. More to come as I continue using Apple's iWork '08. Thank you.
Dear Readers: I'm always interested in feedback and welcome your comments here at the blog or via email, whichever you prefer. Happy reading.
