I've missed you...

Returned from The Bahamas after a wonderful trip which was extended thanks to Tropical Storm Noel. Our 3 day trip became a 5 day trip. What a wonderful time we had exactly one year later from our original trip to Paradise Island. Before I go crazy telling you about The Bahamas round two.

My apologies for blogMerit becoming stale. I had technical problems and I have been forced to rebuild my entire blog in order to begin with new posts due to a corrupted file and bungled back up — suffice it to say the universe had other plans. However, I'm back but please be aware certain features have yet to go live during this re-launch.

Stay tuned for several new posts. Lots to share. Great resources for your personal and business holiday shopping. Tons of useful fun posts. You know the easiest way to stay informed is to sign up automatic email updates. The sidebar to the right has a Feedblitz form, provide your email and click submit. Be sure and check your email and verify your subscription and going forward you'll have any new posts right in your email to read when it's convenient for you.

Welcoming comments on what problems or issues you're having with your holiday shopping? Hard to find toys, electronics. Post comments here so I can prioritize my posting if I have any solutions for you. Enjoy your holidays. I myself enjoy thinking about and selecting gifts. A thoughtful gift is so well received which is nice for the giver because that means you've given a gift that meets your objective whether for business, family or friends.

Stay tuned as I'll be providing all sorts of solutions -- travel and gift resources. some wonderful ideas for gifts this season. it's all about being thankful and expressing gratitude. Enjoy the day.

blogMerit.com is One Month Old and What Fun I Am Having...

I'm wishing myself and my readers happy one month birthday because this writer is pleasantly surprised by how quickly an audience found blogMerit.com. I began with no immediate expectations; I've been on the WWW far too long to know that anything can happen but my traffic stats. have my smiling and shaking my head in a manner of disbelief. Well, anyway I'm using this as a platform to literally talk about any topic that's shown up on my personal radar, so to speak and apparently some of my topics are of interest to not just a U.S. audience but a global audience (this last point caught me totally off guard) because I still can't believe how quickly my blog has been 'found'. This post isn't about bragging it's about celebrating the one month birthday of blogMerit.com. Happy reading.

Writing, it's not what I do it's who I am...

The title of this post is what I've told people for years with regard to my writing. I'm not just some newbie blogger who's jumped onto the net. I've been writing since I was nine years old. I'm both a creative and a technical writer; published poet and I write technically in post production in the entertainment industry, I write documents that instruct how to dub or subtitle your film, tv show, trailer, tv spot, etc. The point is I wrote long before the wonderful internet was available to the global masses. I enjoy writing creatively just as much as technically. I'm what they call a balanced brain individual not left brain or right brain but balanced brain. Anyway, this blog has been a blast for me so far and I hope it's a fun and interesting read to the people who are visiting it.

Which brings me to the point of this post; I just have to write and post an advance review of Apple's
iWork '08 Pages application. I started using is last Saturday when my copy arrived, thank you FedEx Home delivery. I had been using Pages from iWork '06 but I'm already seeing incredible improvements and features about this upgrade that compel me to write a mini-review now to say, Thumbs Up Apple iWork '08 Pages Rocks! I was typing on a tv spot script and the application started intuitively finishing my phrases for me which saved me time, I've seen a word processing application function in that manner before. I also really like how in Pages '08 you have two distinct areas to chose from; Word Processing area or the Layout area. For example, if you need to create a flyer you'd select a template in the 'Layout' area of Pages '08. Makes for a very powerful application more so than just a word processing program. So, if you're on Mac or thinking of buying one here's another GREAT reason to do so. Also, you can't beat the price of the iWork '08 suite at $79.00 (for 1 Mac) or $99.00 for a Family Pack (for 5 Macs). I'm focusing on Pages '08 right now because that's the application I'm actually using to prepare work product for one of my film studio clients. I'm having such a productive and enjoyable experience I'm taking time out to write and post this mini review. It's no secret I love my Macs and I'm a diehard Apple fan this is another reason which reinforces my loyalty in Apple and their products. iWork '08 includes these three applications (just like MS Office but SO much better in my opinion) PAGES (like but better than MS Word), KEYNOTE (like but better than MS PowerPoint) and NUMBERS (again, like but better than MS Excel) Numbers is Apple's new spreadsheet application which rounds out the iWork '08 suite of software applications. Again, Kudos to Apple for Pages '08. More to come as I continue using Apple's iWork '08. Thank you.

Dear Readers: I'm always interested in feedback and welcome your comments here at the blog or via email, whichever you prefer. Happy reading.
